Professor Hilary Hoey

Hilary Hoey is Director of Professional Competence at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), Vice President of the European Paediatric Association, Union of National European Paediatric Societies and Associations (EPA/UNEPSA) and Chairman of Diabetes Ireland. Hilary is also Emeritus Professor and Head of Department of Paediatrics at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), Dublin. She graduated from University College Dublin, trained at the Hospital for Sick Children Great Ormond Street, the University San Francisco, Children’s Hospital Pittsburgh and medical education at the University of Dundee. Hilary is a member of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges UK Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee, International Academy for CPD Accreditation, European Union of Medical Specialists-European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (UEMS-EACCME) Advisory Council and Irish Medical Council CPD Review Group. She was also President of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) from 2013-2014 and received the ESPE Outstanding Clinician Award in 2016. Hilary was elected Fellow TCD, Royal Society of Medicine London, Royal College of Physicians London, Royal College of Paediatrics & Child Health UK, RCPI. She has over 200 peer reviewed publications and has been an External Examiner at the University of Cambridge, Nottingham, Kuwait and Cairo.
